Another feather in the cap of India Inc, after the recent big-bang foreign deals of the Tatas, Birlas and Mallya, it is now the turn of Suzlon, the world's largest wind power company, to clinch a deal. The wind energy company has won the race for German counterpart REpower.
Here is what the acquisition means for Suzlon: REpower is a global leader in wind energy and specialises in high output turbine technology, so therefore the product portfolios of the 2 firms are complementary. Further more, REpower has a strong R&D facility. The acquisition would boost Suzlon's global ambitions and accelerate Suzlon's growth potential in Europe.
There are expectations of positive margins outlook once synergies are realized. Suzlon strikes a cooperation agreement with Areva which will maintain its stake in Suzlon and become a preferred supplier to company.
