RE Capital India fund invests in resorts

Domestic venture capital company – RE Capital India Fund has now identified resorts as part of its development ventures. Ishan Singh, managing director of the company informed Express Hospitality that the company has already invested in two properties and is looking to invest more in the future. He said, “We have zeroed in for a property in Sona, Haryana which will be operated as a resort property. The 15 acre resort property is within an IT SEZ zone and is going to have 60 rooms in all.”

Of late, investments in leisure real estate have picked up and many investment companies are focusing on mixed used developments in this segment. Simultaneously, RE Capital India has identified timeshare as a fruitful proposition for its investment. The company is going to own five acres of timeshare resort comprising of three-bedroom cottages, two-bedroom cottages and apartments at Pawali in Nainital. “The total investment for the two projects would be around Rs 200 crore and for the time being we are not looking at any partnership with hotel management companies,” said Singh. Timeshare is a unique concept for those looking at small developments in leisure destinations and more venture capital companies would be interested in investing in such projects in future, he added.
